Set amid a lush tropical garden of bougainvillea, frangipani, hibiscus and swaying coconut palms the villa is an oasis away from the hubbub and noise which is very much part of the Bali experience. Yet Villa Puri Indah, which translates to "beautiful, tranquil palace", is only two minutes walk through the garden of the neighbouring beach-front hotel to the magnificent surf of Legian beach, famous for it's wonderful sunsets, and within walking distance of some of the best restaurants, bars and boutiques on the island

Relax on the super-soft Japanese grass beside the 12.5 metre pool in the shade of a coconut palm, enjoy a drink and a chat in the swim-up bar, or stretch out on a comfy couch with a book and your favourite CD and cruise - whatever, you'll have the holiday of you life (and the only children round the pool will be yours).

Designed in combination with one of Bali's top architects the villa features a successful blend of ancient and modern - from the traditional thatched roof to the airy air-conditioned suites and other Western comforts. Villa Puri Indah was featured in New Zealand House and Garden magazine in 1995.

Rich traditional and modern furnishings blend together with natural materials of teak, rattan and stone

Expansive open-air living areas catch the cooling east-west breezes while wide overhanging eaves ward off the tropical sun. Overhead fans provide additional relief in the balmy warmth and humidity. This spacious area, which includes a modern fully-equipped kitchen and bar, dining area and living runs across the front of the villa only one step down to the garden and pool. Both villa and garden lighting is dimmer controlled for you to set your own mood while you relax to the sounds of a tropical evening.

Three metre teak doors off the central foyer lead to two large bedrooms (each with Queen beds and own separate bathroom) with French doors to a breezy terrace and side garden. A magnificent marble staircase curves to the first floor and the huge master bedroom suite, with King-bed, large bathroom and terrace overlooking the pool. Also on this floor is a smaller bedroom (without bathroom) with two single beds, ideal for teens. The villa accommodates up to eight adults plus two smaller children
